I am pleased to congratulate you once again for keeping New York safe, however tenuously, from Marcellus Shale fracking. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to be able to write those words.

Contact Governor Cuomo Today to Request That:

1. Health Commissioner Dr. Nirav R. Shah immediately undertake a Shale Gas Public Health Impact Study that will "result in the most thorough review of high-volume hydraulic fracturing in the nation."

2. The current DOH Review be put on-hold until the proposed Public Health Impact Study is completed.

3. The proposed Study require formal public participation and fulfill DEC Commissioner Martens' 9/20/12 mandates:

Call and email your Assembly and State Senate Representatives. If they are not one of the 65 signatories to Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton's Letter calling for Formal DOH Review Public Participation, please ask them to become one. We should build maximum support in the Legislature for requiring public participation for the DOH Review.

I write to thank you for the tremendous support for a new coalition letter that aims to prevent State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah from completing a bogus Review of the Public Health Impact of High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing "within a few weeks."

I write simply to try to explain the extremely important consequences of the decision by DOH Commissioner Nirav Shah and DEC Commissioner Joe Martens not to adopt a Final Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) by yesterday's deadline.

As a result, Governor Cuomo confirmed that DEC's shale gas Revised Rulemaking proceeding would not meet its drop-dead deadline of 2/27/13. The Governor also noted that "...he wouldn’t rush Shah to meet an 'arbitrary' deadline."
