Assemblywoman Lifton endorses Jordan Lesser

06/11/20

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton has made an endorsement in the race for her successor in the 125th State Assembly District.

Lifton’s office sent the following press release:

Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton (D-125AD, Tompkins/Cortland) announced today that she is endorsing Jordan Lesser in the race for the 125th Assembly District seat. Lifton is retiring at the end of this year.

“Jordan has been, not just ‘in the room’ but ‘at the table’, working closely with other legislative staff, as well as with many, many constituents and advocates on issues too numerous to list. He’s very knowledgeable, and cares about the whole range of issues that are important to this district. Jordan understands the tremendous challenges we face and will be able to put his extensive experience in Albany to work immediately.”

In an announcement in Ithaca’s DeWitt Mall 2nd floor atrium, Lifton explained that she had been holding off endorsing so that the several candidates in the race could go to work and let the voters get to know them. However, she had been asked by so many people who she might endorse that she felt a duty to let the public know who she feels is best qualified. In closing, Lifton declared:

“Jordan Lesser is, far and away, the most qualified person for this position, and I wholeheartedly, and without reservation, endorse him for this very important Assembly seat.”
