Toxics Targeting says Cayuga Lake had most HABs reports this year




SENECA FALLS — Cayuga Lake set a state record with 103 reports of Harmful Algal Blooms in 2019.

That’s the conclusion of Toxics Targeting Inc., an environmental database firm in Ithaca, which reviewed data from 192 waterbodies across the state that reported HABs this year.

READING — An Ithaca firm specializing in environmental database services says Seneca Lake has been polluted by south-end brine spills and petroleum releases repeatedly over the past 40 years.
