Air Sparging/Soil Vapor Recovery System Gasoline, dry cleaning solvents and industrial chemicals in groundwater are often remediated with air sparging/soil vapor recovery systems. Air is pumped into the groundwater to volatilize the pollutants. Blowers then draw the contaminants out of the ground and discharge them into the air. The blowers are usually housed in a small shed.
