Dear Joe Martens,
New Yorkers deserve a clean environment, to retain their own health, and to hold on to their traditional jobs. Fracking will destroy our Upstate communities. It will destroy our water, air and land; it will cause cancers, brain lesions, endocrine disruptions -- particularly in our vulnerable children -- and it will NOT create many jobs. Rather it will wipe out our traditional economies and replace them with very temporary -- perhaps 10 years at most -- economies where a few people get rich and most become very poor. And as the New York Times has just pointed out, fracking will not even provide a viable investment.
Thank you.
