Dear Ms. Enck,
I'm writing to ask that you help safeguard the waters and air of New York regarding the drilling process known as hydrofracking. I believe it is dangerous to our health and the current plan in New York is inadequate for protecting residents.
Please urge your staff and New York State contacts, the NYS DEC and Governor Andrew Cuomo to:
1. Expanding the scope of the draft SGEIS to include additional concerns, notably how to manage gas drilling wastewater;
2. Establishing Citizens and Technical Advisory Committees to help DEC revise the draft SGEIS;
3. Providing at least 30 days public comment to identify additional issues to be included in the draft SGEIS scope
4. Requiring individual EIS reviews for horizontal hydrofracturing permits, GA effluent limitations for hydrofracturing, deep well injection and wastewater treatment as well as updating DECs 1992 GEIS.
The current DEC plan does not look at cumulative impacts like the citizens of Pennsylvania are currently experiencing. Please help protect New Yorkers water and air.
Sincerely,
Tony H
