reconsider New York's headlong rush into a natural gas hydrofracking

Dear Commissioner Martens / Administrator Enck,

I am writing to ask you to reconsider New York's headlong rush into a
natural gas hydrofracking disaster. Do not let this happen on your
watch. The great State of New York deserves better, and we are
relying on you to exercise your best judgment and implement the
suggestions noted below before the draft Supplemental Generic
Environmental Impact Statement is issued:

1) Expand the scope of the draft, especially as concerns the
management of wastewater. By now everyone has read the New York Times
articles on the problems of fracking wastewater. This issue must be
addressed comprehensively in any document that will authorize the
issuing of gas drilling permits.

2) Appoint a Citizens and Technical Advisory Committee to oversee the
needed revisions to the draft Supplemental.

3) Establish a 30-day comment period so that the public can weigh in
with additional concerns once they review new data compiled on
hydrofracking.

I join the thousands of New Yorkers who are calling on you to protect
our resources and keep fracking out of our State until adequate
protection measures are in place.

Respectfully,
Suzanne M
