address the dangers in managing gas drilling waste water

I was already extremely worried about the dangers of gas drilling and
particularly of "hydrofracking" either vertically or horizontally
when I read the New York Times article on Sunday. I am sure you have
read this article and are concerned about the effect of gas drilling
on our water, air and health.
Please make sure that the SGEIS protects us.
Please help to establish a citizens and Technical Advisory
Committee to help DEC revise the draft SGEIS. Both "Toxic Target" and
"Sustainable Otsego " have done extensive research on the dangers of
drilling.
The DGEIS also needs to address the dangers in managing gas
drilling waste water.
Once the draft is sketched out, please provide at least 30 days
public comment to identify additional issues to be included in the
draft SGEIS scope.
Please require individual EIS reviews for horizontal hydrofracturing
permits, "GA effluent limitations" for hydrofracturing, deep well
injection and waste water treatment as well as updating DEC's 1992 GEIS.
with thanks

It seems to me that the simplest and most effective way to protect us
is to outright ban hydrofracturing until such time as new methods are
developed and proven to be totally safe.
