I voted for you in the last election

Dear Governor Cuomo --

I voted for you in the last election because I had faith in your intelligence to keep NYS from being "all fracked up" by gas-drilling. I still have this belief, but I am now, along with thousands of others, looking for reassurance on your part that you will not throw upstate New York (i.e., all regions outside the NYC and Skaneatles watersheds) to the wolves,-- the ruthless (and they all are!) gas companies eager to wreak havoc on our land, generate a boom/bust economy that will eventually be the desolation of this area, and destroy the property values of both the wealthy and those living on very limited incomes. I fall in the latter category. I am sure you are familiar with Walter Hang and his Toxics Targeting research, which was sourced in Sunday's NYT article. I urge you to implement his suggestions regarding the SGEIS. Natural gas is not a bridge fuel. It is the bridge to nowhere! I earnestly believe that industrialization is not the solution for upstate NY. And I sincerely believe that you can help us find a better way. Implementing Mr. Hangs' suggestions is a good start. The eyes of New York State are upon you regarding hydrofracking and our future.

Please do the following:

1. Expand the scope of the draft SGEIS to include additional concerns, notably how to manage gas drilling wastewater;<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

2. Establish a Citizens and Technical Advisory Committees to help DEC revise the draft SGEIS;

3. Provide at least 30 days public comment to identify additional issues to be included in the draft SGEIS scope;

4. Require individual EIS reviews for horizontal hydrofracturing permits, "GA effluent limitations" for hydrofracturing, deep well injection and wastewater treatment as well as updating DEC's 1992 GEIS
