Dear Governor Cuomo, EPA Regional Administrator Enck, and DEC Commissioner Martens,
I am a concerned New York State resident and voter who supported Governor Cuomo in his successful election to the Governship of our great state, and I am proud that he has put together such an experienced and informed NYS Environmental Policy Team that includes Director Enck and Commissioner Martens.
Having just read the New York Times report revealing the massive human health dangers and permanent environmental degradation that will result from Hydrofracking in the Marcellus Shale and other areas, I am writing with an urgent plea:
Please, Please support the following:
*Expanding the scope of the draft SGEIS to include additional concerns, notably detailed plans for how to manage gas drilling wastewater;
*Establishing Citizens and Technical Advisory Committees to help DEC revise the draft SGEIS;
*Providing at least 30 days public comment to identify additional issues to be included in the draft SGEIS scope;
*Requiring individual EIS reviews for horizontal hydrofracturing permits, "GA effluent limitations" for hydrofracturing, deep well injection and wastewater treatment, as well as updating DEC's 1992 GEIS.
Sincerely,
Fellow New Yorker and Active Voter,
Nicholas A. K
