ITHACA (WENY) - Cayuga Salt Mine has been in operation for nearly 100 years. Now, Lawmakers are calling on the DEC to put an end to under water expansion.

Environmental firm says Ithaca Gun site still contaminating Ithaca Falls


ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Toxics Targeting, Inc. in Ithaca made an announcement Tuesday saying they believe Ithaca Falls is still contaminated with lead from the former Ithaca Gun site.

Ithaca Enviro. Firm Says Petroleum Spill Never Fully Cleaned

ITHACA (WENY)-- An Ithaca environmental database firm Toxics Targeting is accusing a pipeline company of not cleaning up a petroleum spill that happened decades ago. But Dominion Pipeline, who owns the land, says New York State never said they had an obligation to clean it up. Walter Hang of Toxics Targeting talked to the media today about an unknown petroleum spill which occurred decades ago. When the DEC Investigated the spill in the 90's, Hang says they didn't meet standards when cleaning it up.

Possible Soil Contamination At Old Salt Mine Site


SENECA LAKE (WENY)-- A local environmental database firm is publishing information regarding concerns about oil contamination at an old salt mine on Seneca Lake. Walter Hang from Toxics Targeting told us today that a now-banned practice involved injecting toxic fuel into an old salt mine, to protected the it from dissolving towards the earth's surface. He claims this outdated practice could be the reason for oil contamination of Seneca Lake.
