Deluge Governor Cuomo with phone calls at 518 474 8390. Demand that he DENY Crestwood's LPG Gas Storage Permit Application for Reading, NY. Do not stop until you drop.

Greetings and Happy Holidays Fractivists,

Toxics Targeting just received TV and newspaper coverage for documenting fire, explosion and illegal toxic wastewater discharge hazards at a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage site in Bath, NY.

This facility is reportedly operated by Inergy, which is owned by Crestwood. Those firms have proposed to build a similar LPG storage facility on Seneca Lake in Reading, NY.

Many thanks to Suh Neubauer and Jonathan Gordon at Fox 40 WICZ in Binghamton and David Shaw at Finger Lakes Times for their great work reporting compressed gas concerns.

Toxics Targeting's new research findings underscore how incredibly dangerous LPG storage and transport operations are to the environment and public health. You will be shocked by the flash fire, explosion and toxic spill problems reported at the LPG facility in Bath. A gas storage well actually caught on fire.

Toxics Targeting earlier documented a wide range of toxic releases at the Crestwood facility in Reading, NY where a massive new LPG storage facility is proposed on the shore of Seneca Lake. The most recent toxic spill at that site reportedly occurred on 10/31/17.

Given New York's woefully inadequate gas storage regulatory enforcement record, I just wrote to request that Governor Cuomo deny a gas storage permit for the proposed LPG facility in Reading, NY as well as a compressed gas truck transfer facility proposed in Fenton, NY.

Call Governor Cuomo Today at 518 474 8390. Demand that he DENY Crestwood's LPG Gas Storage Permit Application for Reading, NY.

Demand that the Governor adopt a statewide moratorium on all fossil fuel infrastructure approvals, notably a proposed compressed gas truck transfer facility in Fenton, NY.

Thank the elected officials who wrote to request that Governor Cuomo adopt that same policy: Legislators Sign-on Letter Requests That Governor Cuomo Adopt Statewide Moratorium on Fossil Fuel Project Approvals

Conclusion

If Governor Cuomo had any inclination to deny the Crestwood LPG gas storage permit, he probably would have done so long before now. The proposed Arlington expanded methane gas storage project was killed by Crestwood. If we can stop the LPG project, Seneca Lake would be protected from all proposed gas storage infrastructure proposals.

The compressed gas truck transfer "virtual pipeline" has been held up in Fenton, NY, but there is no assurance that the Governor would not grant state approval for that project if it moves forward.

Take action while we still can. Go hard if you want to safeguard Seneca Lake.

More news shortly.

Ho, Ho, Ho. Happy Holidays.
