3-24-16 - Additional Pipeline and Fracking letters to Governor Cuomo

Request to Deny Water Quality Certifications

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is A M and I live at ___ _____ Trail, White Lake, NY 12786. I have been following your impressive actions to make NYS a leader in our nation's move to a renewable energy future. I am proud of you and your administration for your efforts to get our State to 50% renewable energy by 2050. But I urge you to do whatever you can to prohibit additional pipeline and other oil and gas infrastructure in NYS that will shackle us to fossil fuels just when we must be moving aggressively to a renewable energy future.

I write today to urge that State of New York remain strongly committed to REV and not facilitate the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure anywhere in the State. Just last month, my neighborhood in Sullivan County learned that Millennium Pipeline has started the process of securing FERC approval for a 22,400 HP compressor station--this amidst four small rural towns that have signed on as DEC Climate Smart Communities and are arduously working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels! How demoralizing!

With those concerns in mind, I respectfully request that you deny all pending applications for Water Quality Certification for the proposed Constitution Pipeline and all other natural gas, crude oil and petroleum product infrastructure projects in New York due to the state's well-documented inability to fulfill the requirements of Section 401 of the U. S. Clean Water Act.

Constitution Pipeline

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is e p and I live at __ ave homer, ny.

I write today because I'm appalled that you have not yet responded to multitudes of requests.

With those concerns in mind, I request that you deny all pending applications for Water Quality Certification for the proposed Constitution Pipeline and all other natural gas, crude oil and petroleum product infrastructure projects in New York due to the state's well-documented inability to fulfill the requirements of Section 401 of the U. S. Clean Water Act.

Constitution Pipeline

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is C G and I live at __ Road, Unadilla, NY 13849 and ___ Vernon Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.

I write today because the health of the earth and its inhabitants is at a turning point.

Throughout my lifetime my temperament has been optimistic. It is no longer the case. The Supreme Court's Citizens United decision has taken the wind out of my sails. Corporations have the upper hand and we, the people, are their victims. New York State has been the home of my family for almost two and a half centuries. I have been most proud of our wilderness zones, our Adirondack Park, our Catskill Park preservation and our agricultural history. All this is at stake should a Water Quality Certificate be given to Constitution Pipeline. Cities and towns throughout the country are finding that their water quality is no longer to be trusted. They are learning that water sources are being contaminated through wanton corporation practices that basically exist for profit. This is being exposed presently in NYS and is very disturbing. Water quality will be additionally compromised if any of the industrial projects the fossil fuel industry proposes in NYS are allowed. Yes, we are at a turning point. Corporations are only in business to keep the Red Queen running. We, the people know that the remaining fossil fuel must be kept in the ground. We need YOUR political will to make it so.

Leave my Trees Alone!!

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is E L and I live at ___ Rd Richmondville NY.

I write today because I live directly in the area that's being impacted by these pipelines being laid through my county – Schoharie County.

In opposition to the Constitution Pipeline

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is G M and I live at ___ St., Newfield, NY 14867.

I write today because I believe we are about to make a critical mistake in allowing yet another fossil fuel infrastructure development undermine where we should be heading on energy policy: towards renewable/efficient and conservation efforts to reduce our dependence on coal, oil, and gas and towards safer and sustainable alternatives.

My comments on gas infrastructure pending applications

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is Judith H and I live at ___ Road, Ithaca (Enfield), NY 14850

First I want to thank you for all you've done to protect New York from fracking and its associated water degradation and turning the ship toward renewables. I'm trying to do my part in this energy shift. I just purchased solar panels that live at a solar farm close by. This investment will completely offset my electricity consumption. I'm grateful that our laws enable net metering and I'm doing all I can at the grassroots level to encourage people to adopt renewable approaches to energy.

I write today because I truly believe we can and MUST do everything we can to turn away from fossil fuel consumption. That includes infrastructure that makes fossil fuel consumption possible. Beyond the concerns about climate change, transporting fossil fuels is dangerous and hazardous.

I request that you deny all pending applications for Water Quality Certification for the proposed Constitution Pipeline and all other natural gas, crude oil and petroleum product infrastructure projects in New York due to the state's well-documented inability to fulfill the requirements of Section 401 of the U. S. Clean Water Act.

Constitution Pipeline disaster

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is Mary B and I live at Cortland, NY.

I write today because I believe that the Constitution Pipeline is completely unnecessary and poses a threat to NY's health, water resources and further encourages the continued use of methane which is contrary to NY's energy goals.

Please deny 401 C Water Quality Certificate

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is T S and I live at ___ Rd. Mahopac, NY 10541.

I write today because it is clear that the fossil fuel industry still has enormous sway when it comes to their ability to obtain/bypass/circumnavigate...whatever you want to call it, rules and regulations that are put in place for the protection of the general public.

I speak not only for myself but for all people who are sick and tired of all levels of government allowing private corporations to put profit before the welfare of the people. We all pay taxes and we are all entitled to equal protection.

Anyone with even the slightest interest in the subject knows that the fossil fuel industry is dying a slow death. The enormous influence they have become accustomed to is fading. They are going to have to face the reality that there are other cleaner ways to generate energy...the brown cow is mortal and it's getting old.

Pipeline that would facilitate gas drilling in NY

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is J F. I live at ___ Rd., in Setauket NY but we own property in Delancey New York.

I write to implore you to not allow trees to be cut along the proposed path (or any path for that matter) for the Constitution pipeline or any toher that would facilitate the movement of gas from fracking operations whether they are taking place in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Canada, or potentially New York. Once the infrastructure for moving natural gas is in place, the fracking process which you denied for good cause, comes one step closer to being forced on us.

And I implore you to not grant the sectoin 401 Water Quality Certification for the Constitution pipeline. Doing so opens the door to the tree cutting and to an easier path for those who would poison us with fracking.
