My name is Wayne W. I write today because my wife and I fear the Dr. Shah DOH Fracking review is little more than a sham to make the public think that health impacts are being meaningfully addressed.
My name is Sharon O.-M. of Skaneateles NY. I write today because the government of NYS has not considered the safety of New Yorkers with regard to the extraction of natural gas and oil, including the health problems caused by drilling infrastructure (e.g., compressor stations). No one, no community should be acceptable collateral damage for the sole purpose of an industry's financial gain. I thank Assemblywoman Lupardo for telling it like it is.
My name is Stephanie. Representative Lupardo's letter to the DEC regarding a delay of the fracking health impact analysis review means a lot to me as a New Yorker because, whether people realize it or not, fracking will affect each and every one of us if it impacts the health of New Yorkers or causes environmental damage in our state. I cannot express to you my immense gratitude that she has taken a stand to ask you all to at least ensure that this assessment of the effects of fracking is fair and honest and done with the long-term well-being of the people in mind.
My name is Kathleen W. I write today because I would like you to support Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel, who has written an important letter calling for Dr. Shah's inadequate shale fracking "review" to be put on hold and for a comprehensive "Public Health Impact Study" to be conducted to resolve all Marcellus Shale health hazard concerns once and for all.
My name is Nancy N. I write today because as a resident of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, I am concerned that introducing hydrofracking to our area could damage the agricultural and the tourism sectors of our economy, increase global warming, and pollute our waters, air and soil, and industrialize our rural area.
My name is Anne K. I write today because I am overjoyed that at last someone has taken the responsibility to ensure the health and safety of New Yorkers regarding their exposure to chemicals in the air and water of our lakes, streams and rivers as a potential result of Hydrofracking.
My name is Ann B. I write today because it is my hope that recent intelligent progress made by a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel will help all take a positive step forward.
My name is Erica B. I write today to support Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel, who has written an important letter calling for Dr. Shah's inadequate shale fracking "review" to be put on hold and for a comprehensive "Public Health Impact Study" to be conducted to resolve all Marcellus Shale health hazard concerns once and for all.
My name is Lynn C.-H. I write today because of my concern regarding the secretive "Health Review" being done by Dr. Shah. at the request of Governor Cuomo. I have worked in the medical field for 33 years. Science-based industry that will ultimately affect the lives and health of human beings must not be subject to REVIEW, but must be proven safe by rigorously controlled STUDIES!
My name is Lesley A. I write today because I entirely support Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's call to halt the current DOH "review" of the health issues surrounding the process of hydrofracking, and to require a comprehensive study in its place.
My name is Dr. J. H. I'm the vice chairman of the Town of ______ Conservation Board, and a water quality monitor in the Six Mile Creek watershed in Ithaca. I would like to promote Walter Hang's suggestion that responsible New Yorkers prevent irresponsible hydrofracking in the Marcellus shale. I wish you would follow Assemblywoman Lupardo's good idea of a way to make sure that the gas industry doesn't harm our state as it has others where natural gas is extracted by hydrofracking.
My name is Dr. Sondra L. I write today because as a Biologist and Researcher I am very concerned about the potential negative impacts on the environment and human health posed by hydrofracking. As a citizen of the Finger Lakes Region, I also oppose destroying the major economic engine in this region, namely tourism.
My name is James G. I write today because I am a Town Supervisor in an area where drilling is ongoing.
My name is Eileen M. I write today because I live in an area threatened by industrial drilling and fracking.
My name is Emme H. I write today because I am a farmer against fracking.
My name is Sharon Z. I write today because we need to step back and halt Dr. Shah's review of the health impact on fracking.
My name is Jayne F. I write today because I am concerned that my water, air, property values, and quality of life are at risk should hydrofracking be allowed into New York State. Fracking is a a filthy industry from the drilling process through shipping gas overseas. Air quality, polluted wells, burying radioactive waste products, leaky pipelines, the toll on local infrastructure, roads, medical services, housing, make this industry unsuitable for an agricultural area. For these reasons, I endorse the following request.
My name is Ayne S. I write today because I am very concerned about getting a comprehensive Public Health Impact study done on hydraulic fracturing with public input.
My name is Sandra S. I write today because I am a resident of the Town of Hancock, in New York State. My life has been a made a misery for the past few years for fear that fracking will come to our area, and I have worked strongly to oppose it, sacrificing income and my own peace of mind. My husband and I own two properties, both surrounded by land leased for drilling, should it be permitted. We fear the impact on our personal health, our property values, and the viability of our commercial enterprises (farming and tourism-oriented business) if this dirty, distructive and toxic industrial activity is permitted in our beautiful area -- so important to New York's reputation as a paradise for fishing, water sports, hunting, and other recreation and relaxation. I also fear for the health of residents of New York City and other downstate areas that count on the purity of our waters. I fear for my grandchildren being exposed to the radon contained in Marcellus natural gas piped to New York city and into the kitchens (poorly vented) of apartments there. I fear for the health and well-being of my neighbors in Hancock and elsewhere, many of whom have leased and now regret it -- angry and confused after being tricked by lying landmen who misled them about everything from what fracking is, to the poisons involved and the dangers posed to their water, property values, and their families health and futures.
My name is Rebecca C. I write today to implore you to meet and respond to the sensible proposals specified in Assemblywoman Lupardo's 10/7/13 letter written to Commissioner Martens.
My name is Wendy F. I write today because I commend Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo for taking action.
My name is June G. I write today because I feel it is in the BEST interest of New York citizens’ safety that you require a comprehensive shale fracking impact study.
My name is Steven F. I write today in support of Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's letter regarding the DOH review, etc. Please do the right thing and support her concerns as outlined in in her letter.
My name is Jacinta J. I write today because we as the people need to take Urgent Action to Halt the DOH "review" and require a comprehensive shale.
My name is Caroline W. I write today because I support Assemblywoman Lupardo's letter calling for more public input and transparancy of the so called Public Health Impact Study. For an administration who claims to want more honesty and transparancy in government, Cuomo has allowed a most secretive process for determining our health impacts of this terribly dangerous process. Why? Is the whole message of his administration being open and honest false too? Why isn't the Natural Gas Industry proving to NY that it's safe? They can't. Pa is a mess...pipelines all over.. air that stinks..homes without drinkable water. Exploding pipelines and compressor stations are commonplace, The West is drying up and here we are considering wasting and contaminating millions of gallons of our precious water.. per well. No, they're not recycling it. They're dumping it anywhere they can, because they can't inject it all underground without cost and potential earthquakes. It's insane. I know at least a dozen people looking to move if this moves at all forward in NY...taking their families and businesses or MD degrees with them. So sad.
My name is Nari M., a resident of Ithaca, NY since 1964. I write today because I continue to be extremely concerned about the myriad negative impacts that "Fracking" could have in our region and in our future.
My name is Elizabeth P. I write today because I believe that Dr. Shah's "review" is inadequate AND we need a comprehensive Public Health Impact Study!
My name is Annie C. I write today because I am Extremely concerned about the saftey of Fracking now, or any time in the future.
My name is Alicia A. I write today because I LOVE NEW YORK, and Clean water , and clean air...and I am a supporter of renewable energy!
My name is Devin H. and I write today to voice my support for Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's recent letter to DEC Commissioner Martens.
My name is Betsy B., RN, LMT. I write today because I am a concerned citizen and small business owner in NYS.
My name is Cornelia R. I write today because I am concerned that allowing hydraulic fracturing without a truly comprehensive review of its effects will ruin the quality of life so many of us enjoy in Upstate NY.
My name is Barbara N. I write today because I'm worried about my own and my family’s health and safety.
My name is Franklin R. and I live and work in New York City. I also own a home near the Delaware River in Pike County, Pa. I write today because of my deep concern about the virtually certain and irreparable environmental damage to come from shale gas extraction using fracking.
My name is Mitchell L. I write today because I am concerned about the health impacts of gas extraction using hydraulic fracturing.
My name is Vicki F. I write today because I am afraid New York may destroy its groundwater.
My name is Julietta E. I write today because I'm very concerned about hydraulic Fracturing in our nation and in my state.
My name is Marilyn A. I write today because of my concerns about fracking.
My name is Cynthia C. I write today because I am in agreement with Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo regarding the inadequacy of the "Health Review".
My name is Maria L. T. I write today because I want to ban fracking in NYS.
My name is Christy. I write today because I care about the future of NY.
My name is Dan F. I write today because for the past decade, I have followed, reviewed, and researched the hydrofracking initiative. Given years of effort to understand the pros and cons of this methodology, I feel that it is, at best, short sighted.... That the energy, time and monies invested woudl much better be spent in a much longer range solution. My fear is that the shortsightedness of this push to extract a finite amount of natural gas from our locale, dispite the real possibility of fouling our water table, is fueled by the vested interests of the fossile fuel industry.... To the degree that this is true, it would be reprehensible to proceed.
My name is George S. I write today because I am concerned about the cumulative public health impacts that will result if horizontal shale fracking is approved.
My name is Emily C. I write today because I am concerned about the future of New York State.
My name is Leah G. S. I write today because of my deep concern for the safety of drinking water and ecosystems of Upstate, NY, my home -- now at risk from the possibility of hydrofracking.
My name is Richard J. I write today because of the alarming reports on the environmental impact of fracking and the destruction of water resources and adverse health impact on the inhabitants in those states.
My name is Robert L. I write today because I have studied the fracking issue and am very adamantly opposed to it.
My name is Gerrit C. I write as an emeritus member of the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) because of alert from Walter Hang of Toxics Targeting.
My name is Dennis H. I have closely followed the sad dirty trail of lies and waste which is shale development in PA and elsewhere. It is with sadness I see an industry promoted by paid-off politicians, so busy making themselves rich, poisoning US land, water and people. This industry, which should be criminalized for poisoning our water is instead utterly unregulated.
My name is Gerald G. I write today because my family and friends live ABOVE part of the Marcellus Shale.
My name is Joel C. I write today because I care about New York State and know that fracking is one of the worst things that could happen to us.
My name is Mary M. I write today because of news from Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.
My name is Donald C. I write today because I am concerned that the DOH Health Study on fracking is inadequate.
My name is Don G. I write today because I am very concerned that my drinking water and local food will become contaminated by polutants caused by Fracking. Life as I know it will change and people will become ill. Many will acquire diseases that will put their lives at risk.
My name is Mary L. I write today because I believe that hydraulic fracturing will result in severe health risks for all persons who live near where this is allowed.
My name is Laura N. I write today because of my concern about the dangers of fracking.
My name is Elsie C. I write today because I want to commend and thank Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo for her action.
My name is Diane M. I write today because it is imperative that the impacts of high volume hydraulic fracturing on public health be PROPERLY considered before a state permits drilling.
My name is Manuel R. I write today because this is very important.
My name is Eric H. I write today because I am concerned about the inadequacies of the NYS Department of Health "review" and respectfully request that members of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel seek a more transparent and comprehensive shale fracking Public Health Impact Study.
My name is Mrs. Kyllikki I. I write today because I am extremely concerned about the secretive, flawed DOH Review. We need a serious, indepth public study of hydraulic fracturing for the safety of all of New York State's residents, wildlife and environment.
Our names are Dr. & Mrs. Stephen S. We write today because of our concern regarding the inadequate DOH review regarding hydraulic fracturing in the Marcellus shale region.
My name is Gwendolyn M. I write today because of concern that allowing hydraulic fracturing in New York State will ruin our environment.
My name is Katie H. I write today because I am raising a family in Otego, New York and cherish our clean air and water.
My name is Wendy S. I write today because I want to ask you to take the health and welfare of our children seriously.
My name is Ann M. I write today because I have seen firsthand the impact of hydrofracking and need to speak up. I understand the economic benefits, however, the public health is at stake here.
My name is Cathy M. I write today because I am very afraid that we are not allowing enough time and input by scientists and citizens in a decision that could effect their and their children's life and health.
My name is Jean H. With tears in my eyes (and I'm not a teary person) and a lump in my throat, I thank you.
My name is Jane B. I write today because of my deep concern of the long-term effects of hydrofracking on public health and safety. I believe the risks of hydrofracking are too great and that, despite new advances in technology, the process will never be completely safe nor worth the subsequent devastation of our environment.
My name is Linda B. I write today because of the secrecy that the health report that Dr. Shah is conducting, w/o public input.
My name is Karen J. I write today because I am deeply concerned about the fracking process.
My name is Jerome N., M.D. I write today because I believe that Fracking is hazardous to public health and of limited if any long term economic value to New York residents.
My name is Zorika H. I write today because the "review" by the Department of Health has no possibility of producing meaningful information.
My name is Carol P., Ph.D. I write today because I support Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel, who has written an important letter calling for Dr. Shah's inadequate shale fracking "review" to be put on hold and for a comprehensive "Public Health Impact Study" to be conducted to resolve all Marcellus Shale health hazard concerns once and for all.
My name is Patricia V. I write today because I am opposed to industrial activity taking place in my residential neighborhood.
My name is Janet T. I write today because I own land in Pennsylvania in a fracking region, and despite my opting out of any gas exploration on said land I am still being impacted by a forced interstate pipeline that will bisect my land and then proceed through the southern tier of New York State. This Constitution pipeline will provide easy future access to fracking in an area where it is now banned. It will also move Pennsylvania's fracked gas to connect with the Tennessee pipeline, onto to a liquifying station in New York harbor where this gas can then be sent overseas. The people of this country who will be impacted by all of this fracking activity need to have their voices heard. The true impact of this dirty, dangerous business needs to be fully studied, understood and made safer before going forward. New York state gas drilling interests, in the hopes of making a few quick dollars are not taking into consideration the long term effects on the local population.
My name is Erin E. I write today because we need to protect our water so that we have a future.
My name is Sean Z., and I write you today because I am a family man, a farmer, and a business owner in my community and I am DEEPLY concerned about natural gas extraction in New York State where I live.
My name is Esther H. I write today because I you to know that I am opposed to hydralic fracturing of the Marcellus Shale.
My name is David B. I write today because I am a citizen and parent in NYS.
My name is Ann F., I live in Sullivan County and currently sit on the executive board of Sullivan Alliance for Sustainable Development. I write within the confines of this boiler plate letter today because I absolutely agree with its contents, and in my mind common sense must prevail with an eye on a truly sustainable future. Renewable sources are gaining ground by the minute, we cannot allow any thoughts that natural gas might provide a "safe" bridge during that transition - it won't. (I recognize the concern of some seeking an alternative so we might transition from the horrific dangers of nuclear power, but HVHF fracking is already presenting its own problems with toxic radiation and choosing one poison over another is not a wise option). Refuting that bridge might require courage under tremendous pressure but industry profits, "national interests" and even creature comforts must never take precedent over the health of our planet and thus the very lives of our children and grandchildren.
My name is Stacey M. I write today because I am concerned with the seemingly overlooked health risks associated with hydro-fracking; short-term gains versus long-term calamity.
My name is Ramsey B. I write today because of my deep concern for the great State of New York.
My name is Jenna M. I write today because I am vitally interested in the health of New York's water, beauty, and air, and I am concerned about the possible effects of hydraulic fracturing on those state treasures.
My name is Joan S. I write today concering action you need to take in order to protect the health and safety of New York State residents.
My name is Debra F. I write today because of my concern for a thorough and objective analysis of the environmental and public health effects of high volume hydraulic fracturing. The decision to allow hydrofracking in New York State is critical to our future, and the risks are significant. This alone should be reason enough to conduct a comprehensive environmental and health impact analysis that is open to the citizens of New York.
My name is Sarah M. and I write to urge you to read the letter by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.
My name is Heather H. I write today because I am in full support of Assemblywoman Lupardo's letter, and feel that we need several more like this to make sure that the efforts of the fracking 'review' to be comprehensive, complete, and based on the most up-to-date research findings.
My name is Michael G surrounds the DOH's . I write today because of my concern over the secrecy that review of the health impacts of fracking.
My name is Janice C. I write today because I feel that the DEC is not well enough informed about the consequences of HVHF to make a decision that will effectively protect the public from the toxins and other hazards that other communities are experiencing. Of the three studies that the DEC is relying on for decision, one study that was originally speculated to cost $25 million and was funded at only $1 million and two will not be completed until 2016. Since other communities are experiencing very mixed impacts, some reporting profit and others reporting devastating health and economic havoc, I feel that NYS is wise to investigate fully before approving the process for our state. If in fact our health and our water are at stake, this is too heavy price to dismiss with one study funded at 4% of its original cost and the other two incomplete for another 3 years.
My name is Scott W. I write today because I'm concerned about the lack of transparency surrounding Dr. Shah's review of the health impacts of shale gas drilling in New York.
My name is Norman S. I write today because I am very concerned about the health impacts of hydraulic fracturing.
My name is Marilyn W. I write today because we need a comprehensive health impact study before allowing hydraulic fracturing in New York State.
My name is Judy F. I write today because I am concerned about the negative impacts of fracking.
My name is Anna W. I write today because of Donna Lupardo.
My name is Joanne C. and I am writing today from my home in Vestal NY, in Broome County right along the PA border. I write today because we in Vestal and all New Yorkers need you to ensure that our health and safety are protected.
My name is Carl G. Thank you Congresswoman Lupardo.
My name is Pat D. I write today because I care about the environment in New Yoirk State.
My name is Kelley E. I write today because I am extremely concerned about the possibility of "fracking" being permitted without proper research. I don't believe it can be safe under the current technology available. Even one spill or accident is too much.
My name is Karen K.-S. I write today because Dr. Shah"s shale fracking "review" is inadequate and should be put on hold for a comprehensive public health study.
My name is Susan P. I write today because I am deeply concerned about the potential risks of hydrofracking in our state.
My name is Stephen D. I write today because I oppose all hydraulic fracturing because it destroys the environment and put the New York State water supply in great jeopardy.
My name is Amy A. I write today because I (and many other people I know) am extremely concerned about the very obvious environmental damage being wrought by hydraulic fracturing, the destruction that would be caused to the state tourism industry and the damage to the health of New Yorkers that would come if we let fossil fuel companies frack our state.
My name is Joseph T. I write today because of my concern for public safety and health.
My name is Karen S. I write today because I believe fracking is inherently unsafe, despoils the landscape and pollutes our water supply. We cannot take effective measures to protect ourselves because the contents of the mix used to fracture the rock is a trade secret thanks to former VP Dick Cheney. We do not have the technology or the resources to decontaminate the waste produced, which waste is radioactive and laden with those same toxic chemicals. How will we clean up all the land contaminated by fracking, or take care of the health of those who are made ill from exposure to the chemicals, or house those whose homes will have been rendered worthless and contaminated? So far, I have seen no answers to these questions.
My name is Russell D. I write today because I am concerned about the potential impacts of hydrofracking on the ecosystem and the health of citizens.
My name is Julia M. I write today because of my concerns about the DOH "review".
My name is Joshua G. I write today because This is a very important and far reaching issue.
My name is Lindsay G. I write today because I think NY's citizen's rights are being abridged.
My name is Ronald F. I write today because I am in opposition to the fatally flawed DOH "review" of New York's shale fracking health impact analysis being conducted by State Health Commissioner Dr. Nirav Shah.
My name is Gloria F. I write today because Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel, has written an important letter calling for Dr. Shah's inadequate shale fracking "review" to be put on hold and for a comprehensive "Public Health Impact Study" to be conducted to resolve all Marcellus Shale health hazard concerns once and for all.
My name is Phyllis K. I write today because I believe it is time to drop the Public Health Study, as being conducted by Dr. Shah, and make it open to public input.
My name is AR L. I write today because I am concerned about the possibility of shale gas extraction coming into NYS. I am also concerned about shale gas wastes (liquid and solid) being brought into New York and about air pollution already wafting its way over the state line from Pennsylvania.
My name is Alice B. I write today because I am extremely concerned about the dangers of fracking to ourselves, the environment and future generations.
My name is Andrew T. I write today because I live in New York and I am worried about our future. The day will come when our aquifer will be more valuable than any fossil fuel you can extract from our state to sell for short term profits. Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a member of the Hydraulic Fracturing Advisory Panel, has written an important letter calling for Dr. Shah's inadequate shale fracking "review" to be put on hold and for a comprehensive "Public Health Impact Study" to be conducted to resolve all Marchellus Shale health hazard concerns once and for all.
My name is Kathleen B. I write today because I am totally against any Hydraulic Fracturing in New York State.
My name is Brian B. I write today because I want New York to be a safe place to live and work.
My name is Patricia W. I write today because I am deeply concerned about dangerous environmental and socio-economic impacts of hydrofracking in NYS.
My name is Lawrence S. I write today because the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing in New York State on public health and safety are not being openly and comprehensively addressed.
My name is Deborah J. I write today because I'm concerned about the health impact of shale fracking on health of the communities in which it drilling may take place and beyond. I subscribe to the things Assemblywoman Lupardo writes in her letter and think it is important that committee members take under serious considerations the points her makes. Although fracking may bring some jobs and money to communities all that will be off-set by the potential harm it will do to people and the environment...Thank you for your attention.
My name is June M. I write today because Fracking is unhealthy for NY citizens.
My name is Kristina B. I write today because, though I have moved out of NY state, I still work and recreate there and feel personally responsible for standing up to protect its environment.
My name is Shirley R. I write today because I will personally suffer health problems, loss of water, and loss of property value if hydraulic fracturing is allowed in NYS. Also, the Watkins Glen area and Seneca Lake are especially threatened by this insane push to make money at the expense of our state and our species. Informed people are against fracking. Only the ignorant or those who stand to make money at the expense of the environment and our ability to live here, advocate for hydraulic fracturing for methane gas and storage of it under our lakes. Corporations eager to drill in NYS know that the shale is close to the surface and too close to water supplies to be safe, but they propose to drill anyway. Health issues will cost NYS more money if fracking and storage are allowed. Environmental "clean-up," because it can't be cleaned up, will cost NYS more money while the corporations will walk away.
