President Obama to Participate in a Town Hall at Binghamton University

 

WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, the President will participate in a town hall event at Binghamton University, the State University of New York. The President will lay out a plan to make college more affordable, tackle rising costs, and improve value for students and their families. To create a better bargain for the middle class, we have to fundamentally rethink how higher education is paid for in this country.

 

Members of the media who wish to cover the town hall at Binghamton University must RSVP HERE by 12:00 PM EDT Thursday, August 22, 2013.

Media coverage: Open to pre-credentialed media


Media entrance: West entrance to the University Union. Please follow signs to the media entrance. Direction provided on-site. 

Media pre-set: 5:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. EDT.  Live trucks MUST park and run cable into the event site during this time.  Media outlets with TV equipment or large amounts of heavy gear should also pre-set equipment during this time.

No access to equipment: 6:00 a.m.  10:30 a.m. EDT 

Media access: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. EDT

Final media access: 11:30 a.m. EDT.  Late arrivals will not be accommodated.  

Live truck parking: Truck parking will be located in the circle driveway in front of the University Union main (front) entrance, off of West Drive. Further direction provided on-site. All live trucks should arrive by 5:00 a.m. EDT in order to park and run cable before 6:00 a.m. EDT

General media parking: Lot L, off of West Drive. Please account for a 5 minute walk from this lot to University Union building. Cars will not be permitted to enter the lot after 10:45 a.m. EDT.  Please note media will need to show a media credential from their organization in order to access this lot.
 
Directions to media parking: Enter via Vestal Parkway East –  Route 434 onto Glenn G. Bartle Drive. Please note media will need to show a media credential from their organization to access Bartle Drive.  Follow the road to the right onto West Drive, approximately 1/2 mile, Lot L will be on the right just beyond the Academic Complex. The University Union will be on the left, past the Bartle Library & Engineering Complex.

 

Throw: 30 feet

Cable run: 400 feet

Very limited power and work space will be available. 

 

NOTE: All names submitted for credentials must be accurate and reflect the identification media presents at checkpoints for entrance.  RSVPs do not guarantee access.  You will receive a confirmation e-mail if you will receive a credential to cover the event.
