Beat the Bushes for More Signatories/Dryden Public Utility Approval Moratorium Could Stop Dominion New Market Expansion of the Borger Compressor Station

Take Urgent Action Today: I implore each and every Fractivist to beat the bushes for more signatories to our new Coalition Sign-on Letter Requesting Enforcement of Dryden's 5/25/17 Letter to Dominion Transmission Inc and the Town's Public Utility Approval Moratorium

Greetings,

Our new coalition letter could halt the expansion of the Borger Compressor Station by simply requiring the Town of Dryden to enforce its own Public Utility Approval Moratorium that remains in effect until at least 7/20/17. This "weak link in the chain" strategy could thwart expansion of the fracked gas Dominion Pipeline.

In less than one day, coalition letter signatories now include residents of the Town of Dryden, Ithaca as well as other communities in Tompkins County, all over New York State and from coast to coast. Go, Go, Go!!! Get more signatories.

For many months, Town of Dryden officials repeatedly told constituents and concerned citizens that their hands were tied and they could not possibly rescind local approvals for the expansion of the Borger compressor station.

The Town obviously did not mention that it had failed to enforce its own Public Utility Approval Moratorium that directly applies to "pipelines." This moratorium addresses the exact concerns that we voiced about expanding the Borger facility in direct contravention of the Town's comprehensive land-use plan.

The Town's 5/24/17 letter to Dominion also reveals that local officials proposed to fulfill our requests to revoke the Borger Facility's Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and Building Permit as well as require a Special Use Permit proceeding for that project.

It is imperative that those actions be carried out without any further delay.

Hello,

I am writing you today because I am concerned about the advancement of the Dominion New Market Project as it relates to the Borger Compressor Station. At the meeting in Varna the Town said there was nothing they could do to stop the project at this point. They also seemed regretful that they gave approval to Dominion. Well now is our chance. The chance for the board and the people to not be forced into a relationship they don't want to be in. As stewards of the Town of Dryden please strictly enforce the letter and the spirit of the public utility approval moratorium for the proposed expansion of the Borger Compressor Station. Also revoke the Storm water Pollution Prevention Plan and the Building Permit for this proposed project. The Town said they didn't want to move ahead with this project. Here is our way out. Immediately require a Special Use Permit proceeding for the proposed project and deny it. There should have been a hearing on this in the beginning. And finally, enforce the requirements of the Town's 5/24/17 letter to Dominion and grant no moratorium waiver to Dominion. Getting away from this project is wise. For those of you who did not attend the Varna meeting here is why. I think Dominion officials were misleading during the meeting and at other meetings regarding "New Market". They did not tell us about the cricket power plant. It wasn't until the audience dragged it out of them. They denied that their pipes leak except in the small amount described as "a whistle." Even when several people living by the compressor smell it regularly with their own noses and Mr. Ingraffia used sensitive equipment that also confirmed methane leaks. Another point left unaddressed is that Dominion said the compressor would continue to only operate seasonally because it is for home use. However if the gas is being used to operate a natural gas power plant that would be a constant demand not a seasonal one. So again the community is being mislead on how this will affect them, whether it it the noise or the amount of emissions. All toxic spills should be re-mediated to today's standards before we consider a new project. And we should not even consider moving ahead until Dominion provides a legitimate SPPP. Thank you for your service to the community.

Sincerely,

Peter B

Mr. Leifer,

I am a concerned citizen of NYS and I have called your office over the course of several past months with all due respect to:

DEMAND that Dryden strictly enforce the LETTER AND THE SPIRIT of its Public Utility Approval Moratorium for the proposed expansion of the Borger Compressor Station.

DEMAND that Dryden REVOKE the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and the Building Permit for the proposed project;

DEMAND that Dryden immediately require a Special Use Permit proceeding for the proposed project and DENY it.

Require the Town to enforce the requirements of its 5/24/17 letter to Dominion and grant no moratorium waiver to Dominion.

I ask this because our citizens deserve better than the dangerous situations we're all being hung out to dry for so a corporation can have it's way and increase it's profits! PLEASE do what is necessary to protect our citizens, our waer ways, our soils of significance, and our livelihoods. Natural gas infrastructure is in the wrong direction for NY and our citizens as fossil fuels will continue to rise in price as reserves are depleted, it puts our communities at risk for failures, explosions, contaminations, etc..., and leaves our state in total environmental chaos that puts it's citizens at risk of illness and even death.

Thank you for your time. Please do what is necessary and stop this project in it's tracks.

Peace,

S

Mr Supervisor:

Concerned Citizens of Allegany County have been researching the environmental impacts of Marcellus Gas distribution, pipelines, compressors dyhydration facilities etc. We have significant evidence that the radioactivity is quite high in the Marcellus/Utica Black Shales.

The attendant Radon in the gas is also estimated to be 25 times the levels of the traditional Oriskany sand sources. Radon is inert and is not being burned as it passed through the compressor engines and is showering the immediate downwind community with Radon and it's progeny of Lead 210 and Polonium 210. The nano particulates of radioactive lead have a half life of 22 years and will remain dangerous for 100 years.

The quantities that will pass through the system need to be estimated and impacts to your community assessed prior to you granting the permissions to increase the capacity. Ask your self if there has been any consideration of this pollution?

What are the emission projections? Do they include Radon or their progeny?

How can you go ahead with approval without knowing it is safe or what the health impacts are on the community?
What is your Towns responsibility and Liability in this? Attached is support information FYI.

sincerely

I am writing to request that you uphold the letter and the spirit of the public utility moratorium, revoke the stormwater pollution permit and to protect the environment in our local community and to work to deny the expansion of Dominion New Market. I implore you to do the right thing.
