Five Days to Kill the Dominion New Market Pipeline/Extensive Press Coverage Launches New Coordinated Campaign/Call and Write Governor Cuomo Till You Drop

Go, Go, Go. Use this Quick Action Guide to Kill the $158 Million Dominion New Market Pipeline Project

Greetings,
Our campaign to stop the Dominion New Market Pipeline Project is off to a rip-roaring start, but Fractivists must deluge Governor Cuomo with letters and calls all this week or he could approve the massive expansion of an existing 200-mile long pipeline despite numerous documented water quality violations.

Pour it on. Pull out all the stops. It is do or die. If New Market Pipeline is approved, it would set a precedent for permitting more than a dozen other giant infrastructure projects that could perpetuate New York's addiction to fossil fuels for decades to come.

1. Toxics Targeting generated extensive media coverage by documenting multiple Dominion pipeline contamination hazards that were never cleaned up to state standards. See news summary below.

2. Use this self-explanatory letter to require Governor Cuomo to DENY the Section 401 Water Quality Certifications required for the proposed Dominion New Market Pipeline and other fossil fuel infrastructure projects to be built.

3. Many thanks to everyone who wrote the Governor. More than 200 letters have been sent. Check out some powerful missives presented here and below.

4. Please fill in the blanks in the form letter. Expound on your thoughts. Be your eloquent best.

Inform the Governor who you are and why you matter. Spell out academic and professional credentials you worked so hard to earn. Identify groups you represent. If you have been his supporter, tell him so. Promise to hold him accountable if he does not fulfill your respectful request.

5. This strategy is exactly how we killed the Constitution Pipeline. That is why Governor Cuomo eliminated the emails addresses we earlier used to flood him with our requests. No problem. Toxics Targeting is bundling your missives and forwarding them using on-line forms.

6. CALL GOVERNOR CUOMO NON-STOP. DO NOT STOP UNTIL YOU DROP

Bombard Governor Cuomo with phone calls during business hours at 518 474 8390.

A. Request that Governor Cuomo DENY the New Market Section 401 Water Quality Certification because DEC's spill data document Dominion's existing pipeline and compressor stations caused extensive toxic contamination and water pollution hazards that often were not cleaned up to state standards.

See contamination profiles: Dominion Pipeline (earlier known as CNG) spills

B. Tell the Governor he cannot be considered a climate change leader if he approves more pipelines and other infrastructure projects that perpetuate New York's addiction to fossil fuels for decades to come.

C. Request that Governor Cuomo adopt a moratorium on approvals for pipelines, power plants, storage facilities and other fossil fuel infrastructure projects.

With that goal in mind, please sign our: Coalition Letter Which Requests That Governor Cuomo Adopt a Statewide Moratorium on Fossil Fuel Project Approvals

We need less than 50 signatories to get to 1,000.

Conclusion

If you want to end New York's addiction to fossil fuels, it is time to show Governor Cuomo what you have got. Drop everything and require the Governor to DENY the Section 401 Water required for New Market and many other projects to be built.

The energy fate of New York and Pennysylvania hangs in the balance. If massive pipelines, power plants and other fossil fuel infrastructure project are built, it will be only a matter of time before intense pressure to frack Marcellus Shale builds anew.

Onward and upward. Go hard. No excuses.

Thanks so much.

Best,

Walter

Fossil fuel infrastructure targeted

July 29, 2016

Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo
New York State Governor
The Capitol
Albany, NY 12224

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is R O and I live in Kerhonkson, NY.

I write today because I am very upset at the prospect of the Dominion pipeline construction going forward, in spite of the obvious environmental damage and ongoing risk.

I request that you DENY the Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the proposed Dominion New Market Pipeline and all other fossil fuel infrastructure projects in New York which require that certification because your Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has a well-documented inability to fulfill the applicable provisions of the U. S. Clean Water Act.

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is A G and I live at 16 ___ Road in Wappingers Falls.

I write today because frankly I'm terrified that what has been happening in Pennsylvania will happen in New York. As an economist, I follow the NatGas industry in PA. The spills and accidental discharges in PA waters is literally a daily event, and it's documented for the public to see on their DEP website

My name is E W and I live at ___ Place in Lynbrook.

I write today because I believe New York State should be a true leader in renewable energy forms. Continuing to build fossil fuel infrastructure does our state, our country and our planet a disastrous disservice, and puts the lie to any "clean energy" initiatives an administration might tout.

My name is P M and I live at ___ Rd. in Castleton-on-Hudson.

I write today because I'm concerned about the continuing reliance on burning fossil fuels. As you already know, this activity is degrading those elements of our ecosphere required for sustaining life. Air, water, and soil pollution is detrimental and the more time and money we waste on expanding our reliance on gas, the less time and money we'll have to get to the solutions.

My name is R __ and I live at ___ Road, Woodstock, NY.

I write today because I am frustrated and overwhelmed with how many times I have to keep writing these letters. We need you to govern for the people.

My name is J C and I live in Vestal.

I am writing today because I am very concerned about the future sources of energy in New York State. In order to meet crucial climate goals, we must eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels as quickly as possible. It makes no sense to continue to build fossil fuel infrastructure that will keep us dependent on fossil fuels for decades to come.

In order to do this and to protect our state from further harm to our water resources, I request that you DENY the Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the proposed Dominion New Market Pipeline and all other fossil fuel infrastructure projects in New York which require that certification.

Dear Governor Cuomo:

My name is J M, and I live in Endicott, NY.

I write today because we simply cannot allow new gas pipelines to jeopardize our health and safety now and in the future in this beautiful state. I was thrilled when you did the right thing with the Constitution Pipeline and am asking you to step up to the plate again for the good of all New York residents.

My name is M B and I live at 888 _th Ave Apt New York, NY.

I write today because We New Yorkers have the best water in the world !

We need to keep it the best.

Water does not know politics, or property lines, above or below the surface.

Please do not permit any fossil fuel extraction in our beautiful state.

My name is J R and I live at ___, Mahopac, NY 10541.

I write today because I am extremely concerned that my children and grandchildren and all future genereations may not survive unless all fossil fuels are kept in the ground. Your approval of fossil fuel projects instead of support for the further development of renewable energy puts our lives in danger. You were elected to consider the health and safety of all NYS residents to be of primary importance, and certainly to consider that more than the profits of the dirty energy companies.

My name is __ L-R and I live in Trumansburg, NY.

I write today because I CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF NEW YORK: THE SAFETY OF IT'S ENVIRONMENT, AND IT'S PEOPLE, AS YOU ALSO SHOULD!!
