Please become a signatory to our new coalition letter which requests that all Presidential candidates on the New York Primary ballot pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and support five key policies to end our state's addiction to fossil fuels. Click here
Greetings,
We just received more terrific TV and statewide NPR coverage for our new presidential candidates pledge campaign. See full news summary below.
It is hard to believe, but the tightly contested presidential nomination process could be decided by New York's April 19th primary. Our new pledge campaign is ideally positioned smack-dab at the heart of the whole shebang thanks to a tremendous piece in The New York Times and ensuing coverage.
We now have 12 days to pressure all the candidates to sign a pledge that requires extraordinarily tough, unequivocal and clear-cut promises in order to earn the support of tens of thousands of Fractivist voters. Upstate New York could be ground zero for deciding the election.
This will also intensify the pressure on Governor Governor to DENY the Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the Constitution Pipeline and kill it prior to a looming 4/29/16 deadline.
Bird-Dog All the Candidates at Every Opportunity
Go to campaign events and ask the candidate loudly and clearly: Bernie/Hillary/Donald/John/Ted: "Will you sign the pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and end New York's addiction to fossil fuels?"
Or "New Yorkers want to know why you are refusing to sign the pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and end New York's addiction to fossil fuels?"
Or "I and thousands of New Yorkers want to know if you will pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and end New York's addiction to fossil fuels before we cast our votes on Primary Day."
You can also tell the press covering the event, "I am shocked that candidates who say they want to protect the environment won't sign a pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and end New York's addiction to fossil fuels." "I am deeply disappointed that Bernie/Hillary/Donald/John/Ted refuse to take a clear stand to oppose the Constitution Pipeline."
You can also call campaign offices and inquire. "Why won't Bernie/Hillary/Donald/John/Ted sign a pledge to oppose the Constitution Pipeline and end New York's addiction to fossil fuels?"
Go get them. Have fun. Require candidates to earn your vote by taking clear stands on your critical issues of concern. Then decide whom you like best.
Signatories From Coast to Coast and All Over America
Our new coalition letter already has more than 400 signatories from all over New York as well as from CA, CO, CT, FL, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, MA, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TX, VA, VT, WA and WI. That sweeping geographic coverage is stupendously daunting for presidential candidates.
Please join me in welcoming to our New York fight residents of Volcano, Hawaii; Tulsa, OK; Clackamas, OR; Aransas Pass, TX; Honea Path, SC; Enumclaw, WA; Ambler, PA; Cassopolis, MI; Albuquerque, NM; Downers Grove, Illinois; Craftsbury Common, VT and Winnabow, North Carolina.
As activists used to say, "The whole world is watching" what New York's Fractivists achieve in the days to come. It is, indeed, a small world, but our battle in New York could set an alternative energy agenda for the rest of the nation. We are all in this together.
Thank you for your unstinting efforts.
Onward and upward.
Very best,
Walter
