I write to let you know that Zephyr Teachout's recent meeting in Ithaca with nearly 100 Fractivists was one of the most incredible events that I have ever been part of in my 38 years as a public interest activist. The event took my breath away.
Zephyr is so intelligent, honest, knowledgeable, politically courageous and public-interest-oriented that the room full of Fractivists initially may have thought that she was too good to be true. I think many attendees were stunned by her straightforwardness as well as the power of her impressive eloquence.

As I promised, there was a historic development when former Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan publicly endorsed Zephyr's Democratic Gubernatorial candidacy. He is by far the most prominent political leader to endorse her. Matt's statement took a lot of intestinal fortitude. The powers that be will not be pleased, to say the least. That speaks volumes about Matt's dedication to the public good.

I wish to convey my personal gratitude to every single person who traveled from near and far to that very important meeting. Thanks to Zephyr for taking the time to speak to us. Many thanks also to Helen Slottje for moderating the discussion and congratulations for recently winning the prestigious Goldman environmental prize.
Fractivist Democrats Have Clear-Cut Options on Primary Day
The next few weeks could very well decide the fate of shale fracking in New York State.
Listening to the speakers at the Fractivist meeting, I believe it slowly dawned on participants that Democrats have amazingly clear-cut Primary candidate options for the first time in who knows how long. The differences between the candidates on shale fracking could not be more stark.
Zephyr Teachout, Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate, supports killing the DOH "review" and the Draft SGEIS. She also pledged to ban fracking if elected.
Governor Cuomo, the other Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate, supports shale fracking. He has refused to halt his DOH "review" that lacks any public participation whatsoever or withdraw his Draft SGEIS that is nearly five years old and lacks any current scientific data. During his entire administration, he has been unwilling to provide a favorable reply to our various coalition letters with more than 50,000 signatories.
Against this background, Fractivist Democrats who exercise their voting rights on Primary Day (9/9/14) could decide state policy on this critical issue.
Fractivists Will Have Options on Election Day
No matter whom the Democrats choose for their Gubernatorial candidate, Fractivists will have alternatives on Election Day.
Howie Hawkins, the honorable Green Party Gubernatorial Candidate, supports killing the DOH "review" and the Draft SGEIS. He also pledged to ban fracking if elected.
Rob Astorino, the honorable Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, supports shale fracking
FRACTIVISTS, PLEASE TAKE IMMEDIATE, URGENT ACTION. EVERY SINGLE DAY COUNTS.
The next Governor of New York will almost certainly determine the fate of shale fracking in our state. I encourage voters to learn more about all the candidates. Please make an informed decision about whom to cast your vote for on Democratic Primary Day (9/9/14) as well as Election Day (11/4/14):
Please take focused action without delay:
1) JOIN THE CAMPAIGN OF YOUR CHOICE. RIGHT NOW! GET OUT THERE! DO NOT DITHER. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.
2) Give your candidate as much financial support as you can possibly muster. It is now or never.
3) Above all, organize your communities and supporters to get out the vote on Primary Day (9/9/14) and Election Day (11/4/14). Last minute efforts will be crucial. Every vote will count. Each candidate web site allows citizens to volunteer. Do it.
4) Use every trick in the book that you have learned during the five years of our campaign to require the antiquated DOH "review" and Draft SGEIS to be killed.
5) Incessantly Email Governor Cuomo and tell him whom you are voting for and why: http://www.governor.ny.gov/contact/GovernorContactForm.php
6) Phone bank the Governor and tell him to halt the shockingly outdated DOH "review" and Draft SGEIS. Tell him that you will remember in November. This is the time when Governor Cuomo is most vulnerable to public pressure because he really wants and needs your vote:

There is really no excuse for not signing. If you peruse the signatories, you can see that this strategy is endorsed by leading activists who also want to ban fracking, criminalize fracking, support home rule, halt natural gas infrastructure, prevent natural gas export, develop sustainable alternatives and adopt practically every other public health and environmental protection strategy you can think of.
